IPS screen display
Smart phones are become one of an important part of our daily lives and now it all about using a touch screen phones with various technology that delivers different levels of quality. Several display types are currently used in smart phones, and the most popular touch screen displays are LCD, TFT, IPS, OLED, AMOLED, Super AMOLED and Retina
IPS stands for “In Plane Switching”. IPS was developed mainly to help LCD overcome the limitations of “regular” TFT (thin-film transistor) LCD. TFT displays typically had slow response times which initially plagued PC gamers who require screens with fast response times, but this became a problem to typical users when touch screens became a common thing.
Also, viewing angles on TFT screens were satisfactory when one sits directly in front of the screen. But smart-phones and tablets required wider angles than TFT was able to provide. Moreover, color replication and sharpness on IPS LCDs were better than on the TFT predecessors and most competing technologies.
In IPS LCD hand whites tend to come out better compared to an AMOLED screen can sometimes come across as slightly yellowy. Photographers usually use the IPS LCD, displays as they show colors more accurately.
Phones with IPS LCD displays area considered as the top of the range in LCD mobile phone screens. There are two types of LCD screens: In-Plane Switching (IPS) and Twisted Nematic (TN) type.
IPS is considered superior technology since it provides much wider viewing angles and much better color to the phone screen.
The LCD screen does not produce any light of its own but acts like a cinema film. A source called the backlight has to be placed behind the screen to see what is on the LCD screen. When the light source shines through the LCD screen one can see the picture/ images / writings on the LCD screen. The brightness of the backlight in an IPS LCD display can be adjusted, it could be made very bright to see the outdoors in sunlight.
Some advantages of IPS LCD Mobile screens are as follows:
IPS LCD screen has got very good picture quality.
IPS LCD works with a backlight and the backlight brightness can be adjusted according to the ambient light. LCD screens are good at indoors and is quite clear outdoors even in direct sunlight.
IPS displays typically cost more to make, however, and therefore it is typically used in higher-quality smart phones that come with a price to match. IPS is the most advanced type of LCD display technology and delivers notably wider viewing angles, extremely accurate color reproduction.
