Women’s Equality Day – August 26
Above all, be the heroine of your life, not the victim. –Nora Ephron
On August 26, 1920, women in the United States were granted the right to vote when the 19th Amendment to the United States Constitution was certified.
Women have been fighting for equal rights for as long as it can be remembered. A basic right like voting power and license to drive is still unavailable to women in various parts of the world. When this right was given to women in the United States, it was seen as a big deal. This groundbreaking achievement in the fight for equality is the main reason that August 26th is celebrated as Women’s Equality Day. As we join in celebrating this achievement.
